We offer beautiful, natural-looking, cosmetic care at our practice. Cosmetic dentistry ranges in treatment from professional teeth whitening, the simplest and most affordable way to improve your smile, to a full smile makeover that addresses issues such as crooked, stained or worn teeth.

What Types of Professional Teeth Whitening Do You Offer?
We offer take-home professional teeth whitening to help our patients improve the appearance of their smiles.
When we have your whitening evaluation, we will ask some questions about your dentistry and lifestyle so that we know which type of whitening gel will work best for you.
Customized trays made at our office fit your teeth snugly and hold the whitening gel against your teeth to prevent any excess gel from seeping out and irritating your gums.
Most people have no problems with teeth whitening and love the dramatic results it provides. It is a quick, affordable way to look younger and feel more confident about your smile.
What Do I Need to Know about Whitening at Home?
The at-home whitening process is straightforward, and you will receive all the instructions you need when you pick up your customized trays at our office.
However, you should know that staining pigments from foods and drinks like coffee, tea, red wine and dark berries can get into the pores of your teeth where they are absorbed and work against the whitening process. To maximize and speed up the results of your at-home treatment, you should try to avoid them until after you have finished whitening.
What Is Cosmetic Dental Bonding?
Bonding utilizes minimal prep time and preserves the integrity of your natural tooth. Bonding works by first etching your enamel to create a surface to which the bonding material can adhere. Then, the composite resin is matched to the shade of your natural tooth and applied, adding to your existing tooth structure.
We expertly shape and seamlessly polish the composite material. It is then cured with a special light, hardening the material and creating a strong bond with your natural tooth. If you have cracked or broken teeth and are looking for a conservative solution, talk to our team about cosmetic bonding!
How Do Porcelain Veneers Correct Smile Flaws?
Porcelain veneers are a thin, shell-like restorative material placed over your natural tooth to correct cosmetic flaws such as stains, crooked teeth, gaps or damaged teeth.
The process for getting veneers begins with matching the shade of your natural tooth. You and your dentist will work together to discuss the shape and size of veneers that will look natural and create functional, beautiful smile.
With proper care, your veneers should last for many years to come.
What Problems Do Porcelain Veneers Fix?
Since a porcelain veneer covers the surface of your tooth and we can make it in any shape or size, veneers conceal a wide variety of aesthetic dental flaws:
- Discolored teeth
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Size discrepancies
- Teeth that appear too short
- Uneven gaps and spacing
- Misaligned teeth
Your Atlantic cosmetic dentist can help you achieve the smile of your dreams!
What’s the Difference between Direct and Indirect Veneers?
Indirect veneers are fabricated at a custom dental lab, while direct veneers are created here at our office using a tooth-colored composite material that we bond to the surface of your teeth.
There are pros and cons to each. Indirect veneers are often used for more complex aesthetic flaws, provide a stunning smile makeover, and last ten years or more. However, we do have to alter your tooth to accommodate the veneers, so the process is permanent.
We place direct veneers in a single appointment, and our doctors can often complete several teeth during one visit. While we do not have to alter your teeth, which makes the process reversible, direct veneers typically must be replaced every five years.
Can I Get Straighter Teeth Without Metal Braces in Ocean City?
Many of our patients started coming to us expressing a desire for straighter, more beautiful teeth, but were not too excited at the thought of wearing braces for the next several years. Here at our dental practice, we decided to do something about it, so we started offering Invisalign® clear aligners.
Invisalign is a quick way to address cosmetic issues with your teeth while keeping your treatment discreet. Invisalign is completely clear and fits snugly over your teeth. You can remove your trays to eat and drink, so there is no need to worry about blueberries in your brackets!
For our adult patients, Invisalign has provided a long-awaited solution to lengthy orthodontic treatment. This allows us to address such conditions as:
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Gaps between teeth
- Oddly located teeth
- Crooked teeth
How Many Hours Do I Have to Wear Invisalign Each Day?
We recommend that you wear your aligners at least twenty-two or more hours a day to keep your treatment on track. Being able to remove your aligners to clean your teeth is a huge advantage over traditional orthodontics because you can do a more thorough job than you can with metal braces that are affixed to your teeth. Since your aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions, and you can continue to eat whatever you like.
However, with this freedom comes the risk that you will forget to put your aligners back in after meals or decide to take a break from them once in a while. The problem with this is that Invisalign is only working when you are wearing the trays. Going without your aligners for long periods not only slows down the movement of your teeth, but also undoes some of the progress you have worked so hard to achieve.
Can I Get Rid of My Gummy Smile?
We provide solutions for soft tissue aesthetics at our office. From improving the appearance of a “gummy smile” to evening out oddly shaped gingival tissue, gingival sculpting can increase confidence and self-esteem by improving the appearance of your teeth.
How Do I Get Started with My Smile Makeover in Ocean City?
A great place to get started is with a cosmetic evaluation with one of our dentists. This will give you an opportunity to share all your concerns as well as an opportunity to ask questions about the possibilities for you when it comes to cosmetic dentistry.
If you are unhappy with your smile, give us a call at 410-213-7575 today and learn about all the possibilities that cosmetic dentistry offers. We encourage you to get started by scheduling an appointment with Dr. Lawrence Michnick, Dr. Christopher Takacs or Dr. Kristen Mazzei.
